Hello, I am brand new to this forum and to VJing. I have been hired to work at a club that has two Pioneer DVJ-1000's and a SVM-1000 switcher. The club already has some music videos on DVDs, but I have a ton of music videos on hard drives in the MP4 format and I'm trying to figure out the best way to use these in the Pioneer system.
I realize I can burn the MP4's to DVDs for use in the DVJ-1000's, but if there is a practical way to play them off my hard drives that would be my preference. I don't want to spend hours transferring the videos to DVDs, and I also like the ability to quickly find and play MP4 files on a hard drive. I see that there are some VJ software products like Serato and Virtual DJ which I assume would solve my problem, but I'm looking for a less expensive option, and those software products seem like overkill when the SVM-1000 is involved. I also realize I can probably hook my PC laptop into the SVM-1000 as an input, but if I use Windows Media Player as the MP4 player the customers will see the WMP skin and my mouse pointer whenever I start the videos. I wonder if there is a MP4 media player that can be controlled with keyboard functions instead of a mouse, and one that hides the control panel and shows videos full screen. |

virtual DJ is just 299 $ and gives you everything you need to sync mp4 video clips to the audios bpm from the DJ. i strongly recommend at least a bit of investment else you might find your costumer unsatisfied soomer or later.
VJ software on the other hand isnt reasonably cheaper and mp4 playback is not supersmooth. you will end up converting everything into a realtime friendly codec. you might try VLC player with the controls deactivated but this is really a method prone to failure and you cant beatmatch.
