Default Laser Projectors

I read some older posts about laser projectors, and would like to hear some opinions from people who actually have experience with both. I only read good things about laser projectors, but due to their low ansi lumen ratings I havent invested in one yet. I read online (cant find the site now) that the contrast ratio makes up for the low ansi lumen rating, and makes these projectors seem brighter than they really are (?)

But the cost is a big factor. For one laser projector, I can buy three regular ones with a higher ansi lumen rating.

So basically, are laser projectors worth the cash in these times, or should we all wait until the future? If so, when do you think laser projectors will be a viable solution for VJing?

I also read one of the pro´s with a laser projector is their long lamp-time, but then again, and I´m not sure how it is with other VJ´s, my projectors have broken down for other reasons than for lamp time.

Laser projectors are finally arriving !

Things are evolving and bright laser projectors will soon be available. Beside the little pocket projectors and large laser projectors for planetariums, there hasn't been any professional product on the market but Christie is coming up with something for High Frame Rate cinema projection.

Let's hope all the speckling problems have been solved with the new generation ! I haven't seen it in action yet, so I can't tell.

I've seen hybrid LCD/LED projectors. as LED tech continues to evolve so will prices drop and lumens rise. If flashlights can hit over 150 lumen, then so will projectors. be patient.

theres a fellea in leeds who i know, who has built his own laser projector which aparantley is prety impresive -

but ive got this info second hand as i havent spoken to him in a good few years now, so i dont know the exact score about this and wether he would want his details passing on etc -

which probably aint much help to you but it does mean its possabile to "do it yourself" -

i could try and track him down again and point him over this way if you want?
