2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 v.10.6.8 Not quite ready to sell yet, I just wanted to line-up a potential buyer, having to replace the logic board on this for around about 400-450 GBP (as my USB ports fried during a gig last week). Pretty gutted to be told the cost on my visit to the Apple store. Considering paying for the work and then selling it on as a refurbished item, in order to part finance the purchase of a new MBP. As the machine will be fully serviced and come with new parts, I'll wipe it all clean as well, I'd be looking to sell for 600 GBP. Would this interest anyone? Cheers g |

I think you will be stuck with it. It will be barely worth of the money you pay for logic board replacement. You may get better money selling it by parts on eBay.
But since you fried USB ports(but you may have additional problems caused by this) only you may get these fixed at the laptop repair shop( not Apple!!!) for 50 quid. It involves replacing few fried caps usually. |

Cheers for advice V.
Apple were saying the whole logic board needed replaced, take it that is precautionary in case like you say some other damage has been done (as USB ports are connected to logic board?) Nothing else seems to be troubling me with regards to other ports or overall speed of the computer. If it is a case of just fixing the caps on USB ports and there is a store near me that can fix it I'll be delighted. Will take it around town tomorrow. Cheers. Ps never buy a universal power adaptor from maplin. In fact I'm sure Most folk know never to shop in maplin (unless it's an emergency!!) |
