I think I'll ask about this somewhere else. I played briefly with some EDID / "driver" file maker program(s), but really couldn't fathom what all the settings were (nor what they should be).

Some settings for dual and triple head setups for the QC plugin to control the TV1 over RS232.

Has anyone tried:

Video/computer sources -> ATEM -> TV-One -> TH2Go?

The ATEM should be able to handle mixing 1920x1080 sources which the TV-One *may* possibly be able to crop to 1920x480 (3x 640x480) output. There could even be possibilities for a variation on the "anamorphic" trick (16:9 content in 4:3 package) and use some of the available vertical resolution; the DVI scaler could stretch the input 1920x1080 out to 5760x1080 (3x 1920x1080); which I hereby dub "3/3 Full HD" ("Three-thirds Full HD"). You heard it here first.

PS. / edit: got a little carried away there; the TH2Go may support a 5760x1080 input, but the TV-One cannae handle greater than 2048x2048 resolution. Blast!

In the latest firmware updates there were a little more options:

2880 x 900 60Hz Rb

So maybe it's possible to get a higher triplehead resolution (above 640x480). When my triplehead arrives I'll try what's the maximum.

Further thought: the "3/3 Full HD" could be supported by using 1x ATEM switcher, splitting the output and using 3 separate scalers, each cropping and scaling the bit they want up to 1920x1080.

Lightbulb Away from the box(tripleHead)

So, in trying to engineer a HD mixing system that will also work for projection mapping. I have come up with a possible solution. (I realize this may not be what you guys were working out in this thread).
ATEM /HDSDI out---> BMD UltraStudio Mini Recorder /thunderbolt out--->mac mini (last gen with full GPU) / VDMX /MadMapper(or other mapping soft)/ USBx3 out at independent resolutions instead of a TripleHead------> out to 3+ projectors with one of these little beauties between the USB cable and each projector.

Bear in mind none of this has been tested yet, but my hopes are high.
I will be doing full documentation once I get it all sorted out!
Wish me luck.

Do you think these USB GPUs are powerful enough?

I've seen similar brands of usb to dvi adaptors used in my neck of the woods and the frame rate has been embarrassing. On a mac mini I'd be very suspicious of this being able to keep anything above 24 FPS. I would like to hear how well it works.

I expect a mac mini can't handle the video in, mad mapper and usb to video cpu load. Best of luck, personally I'd be surprised if this gets an acceptable frame rate.

Thomase,
Technically they aren't GPU's but I believe with my Mac mini they will make for a nice projection mapping solution. I have one on hand and I will be ordering 2 more in the next couple weeks to begin final testing. *fingers crossed

This will not work at a decent framerate.
