Hi everyone.
I need some help: I'm a musician in a post-rock based band. We are instrumental and we wanted to play some videos during the show launched by a midi pedal This is the midi pedal i'm thinking to buy: http://www.thomann.de/es/keith_mcmillen_softstep.htm The thing is that i need a software that plays the videos (if it can work as a slave of ableton live much better). I don't need effects or any complicated thing, just a software that launches videos. I've seen three of them that would work (Arkaos Grand VJ, VDMX, and Modul 8) but they are too expensive. Isn't there any freeware software that does the work i need??? Thank you!!! |

by the way, it must be a MAC based software (MAC OSX 10.5.8 or before)

CoGe can be used.
Qlab is also good and can be used for audio. Also licensing starts for 12$ / day for video + midi |

If anyone has the old freeware version, i'd appreciate very much if you can share it with me via wetransfer or whatever. Any other option out there???? thx!! |

if all you want is to trigger videos in a sequence, you could easily do it with quartz composer which is free but you'll have to learn how to use it

I can't recommend to use the old, open-source CoGe because it was very unstable. If you can live without project save/load, you can give CoGe a try, the demo does not have watermark on the output.
Anyway, 260 EUR is OK for a MIDI pedal, but 80 EUR is too much for a software? It's always sad to see what people thinking about software development/developers...
