Default New video mapping/performance software coming in September

I'm currently developing a new bit of software with a different approach to live visual performance, installation, and video mapping.

I wanted to create something very easy to use, and very hands on, that just about anyone with a desire to have a go could get started with, and that would run on low-level hardware (both computer and projector), but scale up to handle anything you want to throw at it.

So, the new software is based on the idea of being able to 'paint with colour and video', and is fundamentally a freehand paint program with a range of unique tools for working with static and animated elements and designed specifically for using it with a video projector.

Not that you have to be good at drawing: the software also supports mapping still images and video onto perspectively correct quad's and meshes, and has Photoshop-like layers with masking and mixing modes.

And it runs on Windows, OSX, and Ubuntu. And it will be free to download and use for non-commercial and artist-commercial uses (I will charge for training/talks/workshops/commissions/tech-support/feature requests, but not for bug fixes).

I'll be making it available on all platforms in September, and, as part of Brighton Digital Festival, I'm giving a talk about the project, and running a workshop that will cover all the aspects of the software and lots of advice from my own experiences of doing video mapping and art installations.

Details here: http://www.phoenixbrighton.org/cours...category_id=15

I'm hard at work on it at the moment but will post up some examples of what it can do here in the next few weeks. In the meantime, you can see some of the development images here: http://www.bigfug.com/blog/tag/paintbox/

Default Only 4 places left for Brighton workshop

There are now only 4 places left for my workshop that will be taking place as part of the Brighton Digital Festival.

If you're interested in taking part, now is a good time to book:

It's really the kind of thing you have to be there for. Not sure streaming video could translate the physical and aesthetic experience.
