Default Resolume Arena 4.1 released

So the much anticipated Arena 4.1 is out today.

I'm just installing now.

anyone have anything to say about it?

I'm hoping the advanced output features are all that, been waiting for a few things for awhile..

Well I just played with 4.1 alongside AirDisplay a-la this fix from this thread And I am blown away, I tried putting the main resolume window on the virtual iPad monitor and it worked really well, with a very minimal hit on the FPS. I even was able to control sliders with ease (With an external mouse) thanks to some amazing lag reduction or something that AirDiplay does. (I could adjust stuff with my finger too but my finger was too fat for accurate control) I tried it on both my mac and my PC unfortunately the PC does indeed have the problems rendering any Open GL output (as mentioned in the thread) so using it as a preview monitor is not possible, nor is being able to see the preview windows on the resolume main screen (They are just black, but it seems to still be working when outputting to other screens, it just wont render on the airdisplay screen). But it worked really well on my OSX install. Definitely making using it as a portable monitor a real possibility, for small shows.

yeah its looking good. Sounds like they have put a lot of effort in. be good to here some reports when people have been using it for a while. I've held off getting 4 and sticking with M8 - random side note.

I think this is the ultimate software now. If it had a timeline; a bit like millumin then it would have everything! The mapping is great and the layer to slice is superb!

I think this will be my next software purchace! I'm very impressed!

it does have a timeline of sorts.

Auto Advance per layer is effectively a timeline (and more)

it's a seriously impressive bit of software which really can compete with the big media servers.

Hmmmmmm yeah kinda. But you know what I mean by a true timeline. For those wanting to run a sequenced show then a drag and drop timeline with basic automation would be great. (Basically a visual version of Ableton.)

But yes without a doubt this instlled on a powerful machine would be the dogs!

I had fun using my iphone to play with the mapping in the advanced output. I'll throw out a couple projectors with a triplehead and see if the new masking/layer routing does anything to stability/performance. The mapping layer router is pretty cool, it was really clever to work on that feature instead of focusing on catching up to the shapes that mad mapper already has perfected. My system felt snappier when going to mad mapper, which is really nice. After this weekend i'll have something beyond first impressions.

Slices are only available in Arena. As this is part of the Advanced Output menu, also known as the mapping tool.
