Default Video camera recommendations for recording live shows

Hey All,

Looking for a new video camera for recording live shows. Thought this would be the best place to ask for recommendations and experiences people have had recording in low light, smokey environments etc. Has to record at 720 minimum.

Thanks in advance

Guess it depends on weather you want something with built in recording that can roam or a fixed camera recorded on another device. As for me I use the Sony PD-170, not HD but native widescreen. You want to make sure you get something that has lots of manual control otherwise the camera well spend the whole time trying to focus and adjust to the light levels.

I would suggest a recent dslr: i got myself a Canon EOS600D and i'm quit impressed with it's recording capabilities in dark enviroments. Especially when you instal the 'magic lantern' firmware http://www.magiclantern.fm/ . Let's you change iso, etc for recordings and let's you do easy timelapsing. Goes up to 1080 and it's easy to change lenses. On top off that you can take good pictures to!
