Default Looking for very Basic Windows Video Playback Sollution

Hey there,

as i read this forum quite often and have found some help here in the past time i would like to ask for some advice on something i got stuck lately.

for a non budget production we are looking for a windows based playback software, which can play back files triggered by incomming midi notes or keystrokes or artnet.

we did a test with them with catalyst mediaservers and found that this is way too much and that all they need there is a small app, which just plays 10 different video files - not fading, no nothing. just raw playback.

maybe i am unaware of a very simple sollution. any help would be much apreciated.

thomas

Lightbulb From the ancient tip of my memory

Long time ago I heard about kind of a visual video plugin for SoundPlant 39 in order be able to play also the visual videostreaming part of videoclips since the software already recognize and is able to play the audio inside lotta video formats like .wmv, .mov, .avi, .divx, .mpg, .flv, .3gp, etc.
It was a visual pluging or using SoundPlant in combination with another simple video player to trigger the videos, I'm not quite sure what was exactly the solution I found at the time.

In fact, I think I even downloaded the damn combo thing somewhere on my HDs, but I can't recall right now where the hell it is and is eluding me completely out of memory.

Take a glance for yourself at their site & try a little bit googling in search of the visual plugin out there, prolly it's still available in some obscure server somewhere.
By the way, SoundPlant39 is available for both Mac & Windows platforms. I wish you luck.

If you are on PC & using Windows OS give to VirtualDJ a try too.

thanks for the answers.

i have considered qlab - would be my first choice if the customer had a mac ;-)

soundplants seems interesting and i will have a look into this.

i found avmixer made by neuromixer and this seems to be able to do something like that at an affordable price.

any more ideas?

I think VPT can also do this and it's free. Only downside is that it has a chaotic interface.

Default A few other options

Ohh! I forgot to mention about vMix... A fine piece of software I've used successfully with some special video projects sometimes.
Take a look at it's features: http://www.vmix.com.au/help2012v3/

They even have 60 days functional demos to download & tryout. So, roll up your sleeves, tighten your girdle and get your hands dirty for a while. I think tasting & looking by yourself worths it big time.
