So, quite a big event coming up.
Is anybody here working on it or have an insight as to what to expect AV wise from the opening and closing ceremonies? Bejing's was quite impressive, interactive, well synced with pin point precision. The performers and technically speaking. I have no idea what England what have to offer regarding context of the opener in particular, what 'traditions' do we have to celebrate...red telephone boxes, inability to prepare for snowfall each winter, and bacon sarnies? Ha. Well I know there are a lot more (The Monarchy, inventions/inventors, industrial revolution, scientific medical developments etc) But it'll be interesting to see how we portray it all. I know there's plenty of talent around, and I know they employ around 30 stage mangers just for the Opening and closing events. I'm both excited and curious to read and hear more about these plans and set ups. Anyone else with me on this? |

there will be a gaint 3d representation of africa, this will be video mapped to show the gold coming out (with real slaves dancing) the gold will come to a massive model of the bank of england before getting flushed down a giant toilet.
then the slaves will be killed and or sent home on an easyjet flight. cynical? me? nah.. sorry actually there will be some expensive projection done by the French, quite possibly featuring the flag of Holand.

I did some small video installations around various venues at the Salt Lake City games in 2002, but man, that was the dark ages of this stuff and it wasn't the opening or closing ceremonies. The very basic projection mapping I was doing was cutting edge then. Just getting back into it and very keen on seeing what they're up to as well.
