GrandVJ crashed several times and from the CPU/GPU monitor the whole system was getting severely drained. That why I will be upgrading to a much faster, cheaper, stable PC system soon.
Ouch, like a knife in my heart. What were the specs for your mbp? Just still trying to decide if what i'm after is even possible. Anyone making HD clips work through a decent MBP? 2.6 ghz over here x2 .... or making HD clips work through GrandVJ

Most software will stuggle to 'resample' from a non 4:3 / 16:9 clip to a 4:3 / 16:9 output.
If you're outputting 16:9 make your clips 16:9 particularly if you're working hd and your overhead is already high.

sorry but why 1050 x 568 instead of 1080 x 1920? 1050 x 568 seems random?

Default Solution for HD vjing

best codec for 640x480: PICVIDEO MJPEG Version 4 also supports 64bit processing 18%~19% quality will give you amazing results at the best file size, its blazing fast to decompress or compress this one. (or use Photo JPG in quicktime/MAC)

Best software / Codec solution for HD VJING: Resolume AVENUE with the DXV Quicktime plugin (free) : http://www.resolume.com/avenue/dxv.php

It was made to work and better process with HD layers for vjing (As its all processed on the graphic card, But only Resolume AVENUE or Addict server recognize it and use it)
In this way you could also work with it on lower spec machines, as long as you have a good graphic card (GEFORCE 8xxx / ATI 4xxx)

grandvj might accelerate your vids in general by the grafic card, but it does not support this ULTRA FAST DXV codec to be accelerated by the graphic card as it should.

hope this helps.

here are some points about HD res in 16:9 & 3:4 formats of it:

16:9
full hd res: 1920x1080
half hd res: 1280x720

3:4
full hd res: 1440x1080
half hd res: 960x720

for HD vjing 960X720 is a nice res to work in as most screens in events are 3:4.
for wide screen i would choose: 1280x720.
