how much? sounds like a good little machine!

I imagine you've already got an external drive for your triple wide content? if not your hard drive will not be sufficient at only 5400 RPM

You might even consider upgrading the hard drive anyway... 7200RPM drives aren't that expensive, and will be much better for future projects

I got on newegg for under 800 it was 815 after shipping. Which was a good deal given the fact it comes with one year accidental damage coverage free plus 2 year warrenty. Most companies charge extrea for that type of coverage !

The only down side to this laptop is the max 4 gb ram but what can u do it is a 14 inch! It take the faster 1066 ram but it comes stock with 4 gb of 800 ram. So I might do that upgrade if I need extra speed... But so far that hasn't been an issue . And yes I did drop in a faster HD 320 gb @ 7200. I love the fact I got esata / USB/ FireWire all in the same package.

My only qestion is that the esata Jack is shard with a USB Jack does that mean they use the same bus ?

It also has five usbports !

huh? explain a little better?

maybe the Esata port can also take in USB? but if the machine has a whole host of them already seems odd? better hope it's not just a built in adapter to connect an Esata cable to our USB bus......

I went the the 2.53, it has 512mb's Video RAM, and I haven't been limited in it's use yet.
When you use your mac for gigs I presume you use a scan converter with it..?
Does the quality of your visuals drain a lot with the scan conv.?
Because I'm planning to buy just the same mpb.

i should of been a bit more clear... i was thinking that on some laptops they have a port that is usb/esata ( both connections insdie of the same port ) i think it is called a combo port .

here is a picture of what i am talking about ,

but my laptop doesn't have this port .. but i still wonder if this uses the same bus or not ! i figure it does.. but you never know !

yes I have a scan converter, and no, there is no quality drop, as all my clips are 480p anyway, and the scan converter I use is a decent quality unit.

I'm skeptical about that combo port. If anyone out there has one, do some speed tests and post up your numbers
