Default My new interactive video art installation!

Hi all,

Am just going through the two hours of footage we filmed on Wednesday whilst showing off our new interactive art installations.

We got a dancer from Laben Contemporary Dance to come along and perform a improvised interaction with four of our pieces, the first video is available here:

http://bit.ly/1pitk7

We used a rather weird set-up, having two 800x600 projectors mounted on their sides to form a 1200x800 screen (yes, you can see where they overlap!) then using some tasty new code in PatchBox, we were able to align them both to the view of the infra-red camera we were using to film the motion.

The result is that we can map exactly where people are standing against the wall, regardless of projector/camera positioning, and then project over or around them.

Obviously there's a bit of lag but given the style of the piece, it's not entirely unwelcome!

We've also developed a way of doing the same kind of real-time mapping on 3D shapes, but that's for another day

Hope you enjoy, and any feedback welcome.

Best wishes,

Alex

Thank you! The flicker is unfortunately due to us using a couple of cheap DLP projectors

It doesn't happen when you see it live.

We've also editing the show-reel from the rest of the evening: http://bit.ly/40Bg6w
