ah yeah, after effects, sorry.
i only have an old dv handycam, so that's all i know about - an hd cam (especially if it can shoot progressive!) will be far superior, of course! in fact, with a still cam you'd typically need to hold the camera still for a longer period of time |

I've done something like that before... I just input the tape directly into a very simple stop-motion software that takes a still ever X seconds and plays the video back at whatever framerate you want.
