one nice idea is to have both patch cables and a switch matrix which you can patch any signals into giving you the flexibility of cables but the instant on/off of switching

I'm missing the Nixie Tubes!
The more banana's the better, makes it look like it is something from ten years before retro was invented. Btw: The unknown product on you website is a electronic vibro potentiser...... And don't make the switch to large:

If you are patching unshielded runs, banana jacks without binding posts are lower profile. With the unshielded patches, depending on the levels and whether it is audio or video could make for some unpredictable effects by pressing one wire near the other. With binding posts, you could run stiff solid bare wire and touch it with fingers to inject noise.
There is a library of synth photos somewhere in Europe, can't find the link now. But check http://www.healthclub-music.com/ http://www.adachitomomi.com/a/sminst.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/sbell/3375083409 and

Everyone does dials, that's probably because they do just what you want them to do. But your banana plugs look awesome! Your set will look unique and give you the opportunity to chain effects, pedals and processors in to the loop, Foot controlled video, now that's a new one to me . .
