I think theres a big enough niche to support getting quals. Just look at north Korea's presidential birthday celebration, cique de solie, not to mention every live presenter and product launch going bigger and better.
And the fact that there are alot of international bands, award ceremonies you name it that would be looking for qualified technicians rather than some bum from brighton who's played a few dozen rave parties

exactly.
and they won't be looking for qualified essay writers who can contextualise or deconstruct.

You'll learn a lot doing a degree, but you'll learn a lot more useful stuff in a tenth of the time doing a tech course instead of an academic one.

These are my thoughts aswell.

Seems a little specific to have as a whole degree course but as asterix said work would be easier to come by IF you are practically qualified which i fear will not come of this course.

In my opinion, you'll need both in the near future:

1. peeps with attention to detail, looking after the technical side of things
2. peeps who studied how to look at the bigger picture, and its general meaning, impact and correctness regarding the public opinion, and who will also project manage peeps with attention to detail

Olli is right.
a degree will stand you well for the rest of your life, should you want to emigrate for instance...
some tech skills would help fill in the gaps nicely.
just a question of what comes first? the degree or the after effects masterclass

Most BAs don't have suitable jobs waiting at the end of them.

Yes I agree. Also I feel that it's not a bad thing for technical courses to have an element of writing. Even if you are training in extremely technical stuff you will always have to explain your work even if it's just to the PR agency you are paying to promote you.

Also I don't see why people are so down on thinking about what you do and why you do it, rather than everything having to be 110% technical all the time? Surely evolving as a person evolves the work the person produces, this should include learning to be critical of your own work in order to move forward?
