Game console as visual generator

Has anyone ever tried to generate visual from a videogame console? Like a PS or Dreamcast or Atari or something?

I have a couple of PSOnes lying around and would like to know if theres a way to use them as video generators.

Either by downloading some software of modifying/hacking the console itself. I remember some application on the PS that showed some visuals when you put a music CD in.

It would be great if theres a way to insulate the circuit which produces this kind of things and give it a different source from the PS CD.

Any ideas?
