Last fourth of july I needed fireworks for a themed event, and, after much searching the solution I came up with was a video game for the PS2 called Fantavision. I used it live throughout the night, mixing it in with my vizuale. There was a mode where you could set off fireworks with the controler. I think I may have had to use a cheat code to get to that point (otherwise you need to beat the game), but it worked great. The only downside it the name of the firework would appear at the bottom of the screen, but a simple mask mixed over top took care of that. This game was less then popular so you can pick it up cheap. I think I got it off ebay for $5us.
