Hi everyone!
After a quick look through this forum, I'm pretty amazed at the number of new VJ apps coming out. I just hope you aren't too bored to try out yet another one, because that's what I have got for you ![]() Well, actually mine is a realtime compositor that also happens to be useful for VJ'ing. It's Mac OS X only, and requires a Geforce 5200 or Radeon 9600 (at minimum) for full functionality because it uses fragment programs (aka pixel shaders) for fast effects. For more thorough specs, check out the site: http://www.anioni.com/edo/ It's free, so you've got nothing to lose

Just to be clear, you don't need a new Geforce or Radeon to try it out. Any reasonably modern video card (newer than Rage 128
) can do the basic compositing and 3D effects; pixel shaders are required only for more complex effects like Soft Blur, HSV adjustment, Displacement.(Of course you can also use CPU effects, but then it's not so realtime anymore because they take a lot of horse power) There's a Clip Deck which is somewhat similar to Resolume or Grid. Adding clips to the deck is simple, just drag&drop from the Project window into the deck. To use the deck in a composition, you need to add a Deck Source node which can be found in the "New" menu. You can have multiple Deck Sources in the same composition. To switch clips in the Clip Deck window, make sure you have a Deck Source selected in the list, and double-click on a clip's preview image to play it. You can modify a clip's playback properties (speed / playback position / in time / out time) in the Clip Deck window. You don't have to type in the in/out times manually: the easy way to change them is to Ctrl+click on the playback slider to set the In time, or Alt+click on the slider to set the Out time. |

![]() Of course it could be crashing for some completely different reason. Could you send me the crash report? It's located in Library/Logs/Crash Reporter/Edo.log (or something like that) under your home folder. My mail address is pauli at anioni . com |

there seems to be no crash report whatsoever... I'll look again as soon as I got a little more time.
BTW I got a Radeon 9800 waiting to be built into my mac, prolly do that 2morrow or the day after that. I'll tell you wheter that changes the crash situation...

It starts up on my Alu Powerbook 1.25ghz with Ati Mobile Radeon 9600 but hangs directly and keeps eating all the processor cycles. I can't find any edo crash log in console...
