Default How to make your computer run as efficent as possible?

So in addition to powering up before you start, not running any other programs, not having your computer look for wifi, is there anything else to make your computer run at top effiency? maybe in the program itself?

sounds like you're new to VJing, from your other posts.

I'd say make sure all your clips are the same resolution, and codec, this is very system taxing, and can cause crashing..

switch off automatic updates as well. basically turn off anything you have on the machine that could fire up in the background. if something launches while you're doing visuals it could possibly create some issues with your vj app.
if you're using windows, depending the brand of computer you have, you may need to get rid of some bloat-ware (useless crap softs that the manufacturer installs).
not knowing more about your machine and what all you use it for this might not apply to your situation, but my laptop for doing visuals is specifically just for that. This means i keep it as bare bones as i can, only having softs and files i need for playing out. might be a bit of over-kill but it has worked well for me this far.

In task manager, set the priority to high or realtime.

Choose a good codec (photojpeg or dvx if you use resolume).
Your resolution should be something your computer can handle (1920*1080 is not usefull, 640*480 is enough for most performances.

why is 1920 x 1080 "not usefull" ?

and to claridify - its DXV for avenue, not DVX ( getting this wrong leads people to missread and believe they can use DivX which isnt very good for vjing at all )
