yo,
hello all tech heads out there i have a dream.... in this dream i use the two projectors i have access to, i use one screen... i set one projector to output in the colour red...and one in the colour green... i offset these screens by a margin of maybe 2 inch... i get a whole bunch of 3d paper shades and hand them out to the guests at a private birthday party and then i play the same clip thru both projectors somehow... will this mock up a basic 3d effect? what do you think to this idea? i have just over a month to test and get this working correctly any comments/advice/suggestions/words would be much appreciated keep it real sinjun |

Hey,
If you are good at compositing, you can try the following software that is used for commercial stereoscopic video: Autodesk Toxik http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...&siteID=123112 New Features in Toxik 2009 Key enhancements include Render Pass and Render Layer Import from Autodesk Maya and a suite of tools to support stereoscopic productions. I'm not sure if that helps, but this tool is being used to create some stereoscopic videos. This is the high-tech solution to what you're trying to achieve, but your low-tech solution might work... who knows?

After effects has already an effect to create 3D (cromadeep I believe is called) to do that.
I do not think that is gonna work. 3D is very hard to calibrate, I mean, forget about you getting something that way. You need to send the same video at same time on different angles to each eye. I work with 3D screens and I am rendering a 3D video as we "speak" and even I have a "plug and play" package I spend 2 days in trial an error with each new project because to get a good 3D is time consuming.

nope wont work
need two slightly different movies each with other camera angle use something like this to get 3d footage ![]() after that you only need one projector and some soft to combine the two images into one red-green image

to all that posted above
thanks for your words there that camera looks dope! followed a few links and it appears that cam is a stills, i was hoping to run with some simple video.... i followed my nose and found this mac daddy of 3d capturing, this is the sort of thing i would use if i could (although will be probably be more expensive than a small island) ![]() after reading whats been said i dont think im up to the stage yet to consider creating a convincing 3d effect and its not likely that it will work in the way that i was hoping for it to this, although is not what i wanted to hear, is good news as it means i can turn my attention to thinking about how to use these two projectors in a different way for the set. any ideas as to something clever i can do that would hold some serious impact would be well recieved! peace! sinjun |

I'm in the process of getting a RC helicopter camera ship going. Here is the gimbal and camera setup I'll be using..
![]() ![]() To project the stereoscopic/3D video, there is the option to project progressive scan video with 2 projectors. The projectors will have to have polarizing filter over the lens, to get the stereoscopic fx to work, and the viewer will still need 3D glasses to get the 3D out of the viewing screen.. Just edited to add: Interesting way of getting a better interaxial distance between the lens.. ![]() I wonder how much more post this adds and if it would be worthwhile to do?
