Question Blender. Anyone use it?

How many people use this? and any advantages and disadvantages from using this?

the reason i ask is i would like to learn the program as it seems a nice little extension in what i do. i use After affects and have used if for the last 5 months. its taken me a while and im learning all of the time.

so is there any point in learning another software like blender?

Blender...

I so wish I knew the program better! I have had it for a while now, but honestly cannot get the grasp of it as much yet.. Would love to learn from someone with experience using the tools. I wouldn't compare it to After Effects as it has a different purpose.

If I get some spare time this year I will try to learn this program a little better.

Well....I've had a go on it before, but I don't use it.

A friend of mine who learnt 3D Studio Max as a student with me has been using for a couple years now, and he says it's actually really good.
For your basic 3d modelling and animation it does all the jobs that the big boys do. It's just the more advanced 3d stuff that it's not quite so good at.

If you have the time learn it.
They are always skills you can transfer if you decide to move on.

Default blender movie

hey man have you seen this?
http://orange.blender.org/
made using blender and i think maybe afew other open sorce programmes. The guys that did it are obviously highly skilled at the programe and had people round the world building tools for them as they made it, (they say in making of documentary), but i guess it gives you an idea of what its capable of!

I really think you require a good book to take steps in learning Blender. Might have to buy one. At present you can get some good info on
http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Main_Page
which has a bit, but occasionally you still can get confused with some steps..
