Still interested? Heres some more info on the acts blessing Looking Sound.

DJ Warlock

Acid House was what got me on the decks. It made me get involved rather than just being a spectator...

East London. This was 89 and a fantastic time. An electronics student built me a transmitter and for 6 months we were blasting out on the airwaves. This all came on top, but fortunately I got a slot on Pulse 90.6FM. Things were going really well, but looking back, maybe 3 shows a week was pushing it, because one Tuesday night it all abruptly came to an end. The DTI bust through the door, taking all my tunes and slapping me with a hefty fine. I got a few sorted residences. I’ve got many happy memories from doing Slimetime and also Labrynth when it was down at 4 Aces, Dalston – one of the most unique venues ever - it has to be said. Plenty of the big raves were happening, and I was getting slots at places like Helter Skelter, Interdance, Universe, Elevation, The Eclipse, Quest, Kinetic and 2000AD to name a few...

I returned in 2001 and had regained my enthusiasm. I got back on the case. Combining forces with long-time dj, Stacey (now known as Noyeahno), we put our studios together and laid plans for Rag & Bone. We had both been through similar genres and wanted to do something with it. The label has evolved into a melting pot of dubstep, breaks and electro, with the occasional hint of old skool and techno. Its ended up being a bit uncompromising as an imprint, skirting the fringes of several scenes and sounds but not really getting stuck, trapped or defined by any particular one of them. Probably not the best way to go about things, but the label is about putting out what we like, what moves us and releasing music that pushes things to another level.
And that's how I'm spinning - I just like to mix it up and make people move with edgey forward thinking beats. The last few years have been good. Playing here and abroad at a range of underground events like Dead Silence, Wang, Haywire, Delta 9, Unsound, Yardcore, Toxic Dancehall plus places like Uglyfunk, Rebel Bass, Colony and Interakt. And when there's been time, putting on our own events under the Rag & Bone moniker with a policy of good underground music, new and old.

VJ 5LAYER

Recently back from Tokyo, Japan and doing visuals with Luke Slaters Planetary Assault Systems. VJ 5LAYER has many aliases and his recent tricks include feedback, technicolor, and 3D type workings coming out in all directions.

Other endeavuors include regular graphics night under the alias VJ Typeography and a bike night for an exhibition aka VJ SKYWAY.

You can rest assured that his visual work will be something to come and check out in its own right but when you combine VJ 5LAYER with the tunes of DJ Warlock it will be a true A/V treat.

Continuum

Continuum is a bass producer supplying remixes for numerous labels, and writing and producing for a number of different chart acts.
The live show is an intense explosion of underground beats and bass, merged with commercially vibrant hooks.
Live drums, bass, synths, samplers and effects create an original and huge sound in every one of his performances.

Hello everybody,

I'm planning to go to New York this next summer to play visuals and I've been checking by Internet, but I haven't found any specific forum, or platform or anything special about that.

Does anyone know anything about VJing in NYC? I mean areas in the city, specific clubs or bars... or forums, groups meeting from time to time, any VJ already playing there who I could contact with, any DJ, manager...

I went to London two years ago the same way and i found some clubs where to play but there were more information around at least, to begin my adventure. Well any clue would be very helpful!

Thank you very much.

Version 1.12 of the P-10 firmware has been released. Along with this release, there is also an updated Windows version of the P-10 software (1.03). Mac OSX remains at version 1.01.

Updates for the P-10 appears to be cosmetic at first. Rebranding the unit to Roland (as per 1.09 release) but also brings into the MIDI the newly adopted "MIDI VISUAL CONTROL" protocol. This seems to be the inclusion of VLink into the standard MIDI protocol.
On PAL(25fps), P-10 might not be able to play back a movie file recorded until the maximum size of an SD card which size is 2GB or more because there is an error on the error-handling routine. The error is corrected.
Changed the brand name on the PC screen from Edirol to Roland when connecting the P-10 with the PC.
[BUG FIX]
When letting the input video signal go thru output, the output video might be shifted four lines downward.
The system was stopping video playback by a MIDI Offline message, so the playback might be stopped unexpectedly.

Tagtool Touch - the app for animated projection painting

We’re proud to announce Tagtool Touch, the app for animated projection painting. With the new Tagtool you paint and animate with your fingers, multiple users connect to work collaboratively, and everything works completely free of cables. It’s the next step for our unique approach to creating intuitive and inspired visuals.

We found that while people absolutely love Tagtool when everything is set up, they are intimidated by the long and complicated road from wanting to owning a Tagtool. They complained that the full Tagtool setup is to big, too heavy, has too many cable connections and is expensive when you consider everything. People without gaming experience – especially traditional artists – have trouble using the gamepad for animation. And the list went on – in the end we were able to compile a detailed specification of requirements, which sketched out an ideal instrument for animated projection painting – unreal, like something out of a science-fiction novel.

So what does all this mean for the existing Tagtool community? For the DIY fans – we can assure you that we are proud of our hacker roots, and that the existing Tagtool system will continue to be open source and freely available. In fact, we are thinking of bringing the Arduino-based Tagtool into the Donut Universe in the future, so old school and new school can co-exist and collaborate peacefully. We are also re-working our logo and homepage; this is most probably the last feature on this blog.

The new Tagtool will be unveiled at the renowned Mapping festival in Geneva. From 16th to 18th of May, visitors can take part in multiplayer sessions and experience the artistic use of the tool, before it will be available on the App Store in summer 2012.

Hi. I am exploring differnt effects to use in place of my current 4m x 2m led curtain backdrop. Ideally I would love a nice LED screen but due to the cost im looking at video projection as an alternative.

I would need something that sets up and tears down quickly and easily. My inspiration for looking at Projection was this video here:

Fish On Percussion - Britain's Got Talent 2012 Live Semi Final - UK version - YouTube

Fish On Percussion - Britain's Got Talent 2012 Live Semi Final - UK version - YouTube

<param name=''movie'' value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-RhHvGyVA6A&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&fs=1">

I would either project forward like in the video or ideally stick the projector behind me and project up to a screen.

I wonder what kind of projector would be a decent solution for this kind of effect? I noticed that this particular video is very radiant and probably an expensive projector but my budget is around £1000 all in. Would this touch the sides?

Any help in the matter would be truly apreciated.

I have been doing some testing with VJing using full HD 1080i files and have found some strange results. While testing in Resolume Arena I discovered that while clips encoded with DXV codecs run smoother on a cutting edge 8-core AMD build, that I am actually getting faster results on an older intel i5 setup with anything that is encoded as PhotoJPEG.

Have any of you seen a noticeable performance difference with FPS when playing HD content with an intel iSeries chip vs the new AMD3+ chips?

Should I give up on the AMD and just get a Sandybridge?

Thanks for any and all advice :)
