For anyone that doesn't read /. religiously you may not be aware of what Sony/IBM have been cooking up.

Calling the cell processor an evolutionary step just doesn't seem right. Being a developer who's just now getting into the nitty gritty of MMX/SSE2/SIMD I'm rather excited by the possibilities.

It's great to come with new bright ideas like this new architecture but this won't help make the PS3 any easier to code for than the PS2 (which really was a nightmare, even more so at the beginning). Having power is one thing, knowing how to use it is something completely different.
