Alright,

I'm making this clip of 4 dancers prancing in front of a moon. I'm trying to use a lighting layer to make it so that the moon acts as a spotlight, sending a visible beam which illuminates the dancer from behind and cast a shadow on the "ground" in front. The problem is, I can't figure out how to get the beam visible and I can't seem to position it behind the dancers...

Can any of you slcik VJs give me any tips on how to do this?

So are you using 3d layers? are the dancers keyed out, so their filmed backgrounds are invisible?

You can easily cast a shadow with 3d layers, positioning a light... not too hard, but the beam of light is a bit trickier. The 'volume light' effect can't be achieved with AFX alone as far as I know... you need a plugin called Trapcode shine. www.trapcode.com

Actually you could do it with just shine.
But if you add lux it'll work easier. :D

For just using the production bundle 6.5 use:
CC light burst and CC light rays while masking the dancers and precomping it the effects over the footage.
