Really interesting app but unfortunately it crashed the 3 times I tried to output something :( I don't know if I put the wires the wrong way or something... I'll try again soon.

"needed configuration: pentium IV 1 ghz, 256 mo ram...." ?!?

you should get on the intel sponsored list fer sure... bet they love to invest money on a hungry beast like this :D

Guys (Exhale & hamageddon)

First off you cannot connect the wires wrong in Elektronika it will not let you. Try a simple .eka file construct first ie: load the rhythm box and video out modules, dump a movie into the rhythm box look at the rear view, connect the video out to the video in, press play and awaaaaaaaaaay you go.
(Check on video out to select specific video output)
I have tweaked the virtual memory settings on my PC (2 x RAM) and Elektronika works faster.

As for PC configuration I'm using 700mHz P3, 2 x HD, with 384meg RAM, Matrox G450eTV dual head card, Elektronika works fine with this.

See ya !

Actually it didn't crash when I made new tests, I don't know what happened the first times, it may be that I was running too many apps at the same time. Anyway thanks for those info I didn't know there was example files. Elektronika makes me feel like buying MIDI controllers just to use with it :)

I like elektronika, though im using only the demoversion. My computer is athlon 1,33 ghz, 256 ram, win xp and still not fast enough. any tweaks around to make it faster? Now it isnt fast enough for 320x240 output.

Yes, you can tweak it to make it faster

1. Switch off screensavers
2. Shut down task scheduler
3. Defrag HD using Norton Speed disk or similar
4. Select DVD Max feature on graphics card (if you have matrox dual head) - What card do you have ??
5. Buy more RAM (money permitting)
6. Try to use .fli files in rhythm box (avi's and mpeg's take longer to load) You can convert into these files using u-lead studio or similar)
7. Adjust virtual memory setting - refer to http://www.specialtyvideosupply.com/review/winme02.html - this will tell you how ! (worked on my PC)
8. Try not to load to many effects together
9. Re-install OS from scratch
10. Install a faster hard disk

If I can remember any more tweaks I will let you know

Enjoy ELEKTRONIKA !!

I have done almost all of the things you list.

My graphics card is radeon 8500, is there a similarly working function there as the DVD max on matrox?

Spaceraimo, according to ATI's website the 8500 does have a DVD playback function, read the card manual, and look at the display fuctions in your control panel.

Website at http://mirror.ati.com/products/pc/radeon8500/

See ya

With fli files do they load quicker or display quicker? Do you get my drift?

I guess the two hand in hand though. I use avi files pretty much 100% with elektronika

How much performance increase are fli or avi I wonder. Could be worth converting my avi to fli. Is there any decrease in resolution??

One thing I have learnt is to use really really short loops. I am currently working on 25 frames per loop. so a sec for each. seems to work well.

athalon1800xp with 512 ram with all tweaks except defrag.

i would say borderline performance with this config. more processor would be fantastic for live situation so can really cut loose with effects without worrying about artifacts from decreased fps.

Hi apu

I don't know why, but I have extensively used eleektronika for the last few months, the fli files do tend to load faster than avi's, this is very handy when switching btween sets, however the picture quality is marginly lower than avi's, but when you are mashing up effects on top of this at a live gig is anyone going to notice (especially if they are beered up!!)
I'm running this 700mHZ with lots of RAM and two hard drives, occasional drop to 20fps when needs must (or I have lots of effects loaded) and it works fine.
The key this is if you have built up many effects modules in an .eka file, when you are not using a particular effect in the mix in a point in time, switch it off until you use it, this free's up proccessor power.

Happy Vid Mixing !!! :) :)

faster switching of banks of loops would be a great help. you basically have to stop the whole engine to load a new set of loops. even one loop can take a couple of mins when the system is running which is a slight inconvenience.

i already turn off what is not needed to help out fps too.

i use only two effects module sphere and aestesis but only one at a time really. I wouldn't consider this many at all. i mean you could go nuts with elektronika and have all sorts loaded but you just cant afford to.

also have two disks (1 for o/s and 1 for media) and plenty of vram although 512 should be heaps.

i need to check my ram type to see if it is ddr or whatever but that could mean a whole new system nearly if i decide to tweak the h/w in that direction. if I do that i will wait until i can afford a dual proc pc. (next year some time never:) )

i am happy enough for now but will definatly check out these fli files somehow and do some testing.

is it a common format. i saw ulead mentioned in the thread. i wonder what else.
