following a thread from eyecandy, i'm looking for camcorders capable
of analog to digital (firewire) conversion on the fly. the units mentioned there were the sony trv230 and the panasonic MX300. any more camcorder units with analog inputs?

tnx in @dvance,

The Sony TRV900 has analog inputs as well (svideo and composite), very useful although I always forget about them. Are you sure the TRV230 has analog inputs too? I thought that the TRV900 was the smaller model to have such features.

I have a panasonic nv-mx8eg and it has analog input too... Nice and cheap camera (although : 1700 ?) with a leica-lens. Mini-dv, analog in and out, firewire in and out ... 1 mill. pixels ... what else do ya want ?

the new sony trv950, sony vx2000 both are hot 3ccd cameras with in out through analogue firewire, also the cannon mx2 does this along i think with most of the new wave of cheaper cannon cams

Just make sure you double check that you can have Analog input go through to Firewire output simultaneously, so it can be used as a converter. Otherwise, you may just end up having an analog in that you have to record, and then play back to get a firewire out.
