why cant the vjs that are doing the show make something.
Are you asking for some one to do 2d or 3d animation for free? Do you know how much time that can take? And then to not even let them vj the show...
What kinda free ad are you suggesting. That the Vjs mixing that night throw up a web addy and ph# over their set of a completely diff VJ...and who would put 2 and 2 together any way.
I don't know...maybe you can find a VJ in the UK thats feeling the Christmas spirit, but I wouldn't touch it.
Maybe if you were to get me and 5 of my friends in to the club for free and some drink tix on NYE but no way for free.

sounds like u looking for someone doing the work you promised someone.
how about grabbing a full functioning trial of a vj-soft (f.e. resolume) , some freeframe filters & see what happens?

it is the logo for a hardcore night though - what do you expect? next you'll be saying the music's too fast and white gloves look silly??

"next you'll be saying the music's too fast and white gloves look silly??"
Goes without saying Tom:P
But it's still a hackneyed, derivative and totally un-imaginative solution, let's see some "hardcore" graphics then.......

a mate of mine tells a funny story about a hardcore gig back in the day where some of the "top" djs from the scene were sitting backstage comparing records - the conversation reveolved around how they hated the music and couldn't belive that people would stay in the venue let alone dance to the stuff - they were having a contest that night to see who could drop the worst record! - these were big name people who were being paid thousands to play:scared:

Sounds like RnB nights in HK.......
Thank God I don't do em anymore... one more pratt asking me for Justin Timberland was gonna get glassed.
To this day I still can't hear the word Timberland or the phrase "Play some RnB" without involuntarily shuddering....

I have no problem spending 4 mins trying to educate promoters on the value of our skills as VJs and artists.
The fact is that you are asking someone you don't even know to hook you up with a favor. There needs to be some mutual back scratching brought to the table when you approach ppl in this manner.
Any time you wanna come out to Detroit and flier for my club for free it would be most appreciated. And you wouldn't even need to buy $7000 worth of fliering gear to do this.;)

Dude, your previous comments made me upset too and I am not promoter. I think that if he does not find anybody to do it for free it will learn the lesson. Or probably some one with a lot of time and the chritsmast spirit would do it.
Remember we are all free to ask, there is no harm in that.

I guess I didn't really see CA's reply as that out of line....dude came on here asking for free renders, right? thats no different than promoters asking for free VJs? how many times has that happened and VJF tore the promoter a new one?
His request was just vague and ignorant enough to show he really didn't have a clue.
and I thought stealthsyst3ms reaction was laughable. not only does he want something for nothing, he doesn't want to have to put up with any ribbing in the process! sorry buddy, this just isn't a total "your needs served to you on a silver spoon" kinda place....

Do we need a "charity" forum where we can shift all this stuff?

stealthsyst3ms,
I am honestly confused if you want 'help' or want someone to do it for you.
Your initial request was ambigious at best.
Do you have any skills in VJing e.g. you are sample based and you unable to do anything in 3D? *shrug*
If you wantr help what bit are you stuck on. What software are you using for making this animation at the moment.
If you asking (it sounding more like 'demanding') for free stuff then you should be more clear.

well, if you do decide to ask something again, you might want to try and be more specific with your questions.
I think if you read your post again you'll see that you were not clear if you were looking for finished products, or just ideas on what to do.

So...
You have a jpeg to start with, so ading some spice culd mean ading motion to it,
There is a few softweres that can do that in real time and offer the option to record your avi. I use resolume (http://resolume.com/download2/index.php)
And you can find more free frame plugins here (http://freeframe.sourceforge.net/downloads.html)
You will find that you can learn to use the programe in 30 minutes if you read troug the manual that is in the program folder.
tip: open your jpeg in all three layers and ad diferent effects to it, change the opacity of the layers to blend the layers.
Oh jes, press the record button first...
you culd have asked a more specific qestion, WHAT romours and advertising are you talking about? You can tough use my logo, but that means my logo only!
Its bad image to apear next to that...
