I've just been asked to help out on a new project,
I know they are possibly interested in VJ works...
here's the details, good luck !

The Digital Showcase - Call For Submissions
London's Institute of Contemporary Arts invites submissions for a new
monthly series of screenings provisionally entitled "The Digital Showcase".
The series aims to provide a platform for artists to present new works
produced using digital tools.
Selected works will be showcased at the ICA Cinema on the 23rd of November, within ICA's annual festival 'whatdoyouwanttodowithit?'. The screening will be punctuated by artist presentations and discussions with the audience.
Works should not exceed 10 minutes and must be sent on one of the following formats: VHS, SVHS, miniDV (pal), Beta, BetaSP.
Deadline: 15 November 2002
ICA / DIGITAL SHOWCASE
Education department
12, Carlton House Terrace
London SW1Y 5AH

OK people,
I've been invited as guest curator for the next screening at the Digital Showcase event, happening at the ICA on 18 jan 2003. This time VJing is the MAIN focus of attention.
This will take place once again in a cinema context, the work presented can either be VJ mix content, archives of live events or something else related to the VJing genre I haven't yet though of. The screening will be punctuated by VJ presentations and discussions with the audience.
Please send your stuff to:
ICA / DIGITAL SHOWCASE
Education department
12, Carlton House Terrace
London SW1Y 5AH
Deadline: 13 January 2003
Prefered format (to facilitate screening) :
Beta, BetaSP, SVHS, VHS, DV.
PAL, under 10 minutes if possible...
So even if you can't submit anything on such short notice (sorry), if you are in the London area, please come down to have a look or express your opinion on the screening and how we can further popularize the art of VJing.
further information:
send me a PM or email from the buttons below...

I was expecting that reply, since the recent discussions we been having on the forum.
I could react more emotionally, about being acused of organising a festival for the purposes of stealing clips, also I'm pretty sure this is a cover up by a more cynical member of this forum, to be a devil's advocate of some sorts. But I find this an interesting exercice, so I will answer this question seriously.

I am not a newbie, do your homework Kommy, whoever you are. I am one of the top ten posters of VJforums.com, as well as forum host for the VJ events threads. I am also head of VJ A&R (artists & repertoire) for Microchunk, an emerging London based VJ label, and promoter for Vectors, which is, according to the press, the most recognized VJ centric event in the UK.
I also give VJ workshops regularly, on hardware and software, midi and actionscript programming as well as VJ-specific storyboarding. My next workshop is actually a FREE 12 week course, starting in January.
As a proffesional VJ since 1996, I have been giging in venues like Fabric in London, Pacha in Ibiza, Melkweg in Amsterdam, Club Asia in Tokyo, Sona in Montreal, for artists like Goldie, Faithless, Timo Maas, Darren Emerson, or corporates parties like Greenpeace, FCUK and World DJ Day. I have also participated in new media festivals like ISEA2002 in Nagoya, ZKM in Karlsruhe, Dreamcatcher in Kiev and the Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, La Habana. Oh, and I'm sponsored by Green-Hippo...
Now, I have been appointed by the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art, one of the most prestigious art centres in recent history) to recruit the best VJ talent worldwide, and showcase it in a cinema/panel discussion context, to sensitize VJing to a wide randing audience and in the process raise the profile of VJing.
I have received already positive feedback from Kriel, Micheal Heap, SyZyGy, Eniac, Hamma, eXhale and Morph, and waiting for many others.
Does this legitimise my endeavor? C'mon people, let's be proffessional, show some good faith, and take VJing to a higher ground...

PS Morph, as one of the senior members of VJForums, I would expect you to give me more credits than to spontaneously take the side of cynicism. Especially since you emailed me privately to tell me you are interested in participating in this project. please amend your last post... :)

Ill vouch for NE1 too, but i think kommy was actually joking :)
but if he wasnt, the difference between this and that other thread is that NE1 hasnt asked for a full 30min mix tapes for submission and hasnt made a song and dance about getting full rights to all submissions regardless of whether they get chosen,
and im sure if asked he'd be more that happy to supply the guarantee in writing that no copies be made and tapes returned that the other guy was so evasive about.
