I just added a new "Internet" option for the format of the new video release (http://www.vjcentral.com/video) section. This means that if someone makes a video and release it only on the Internet (because it didn't have the money to make a DVD for example), it will still be possible to have it featured on VJCentral.

Also, since I don't see much additions on that new section, I want to make it clear again that the video releases don't have to be reviews. Just giving a short explaination (a couple of paragraphs) of what's on the video is fine, although telling why VJC members should view it would be a plus. Maybe I will redo my Liquid Crystal Vision review and include my personal opinion as a comment.

This means that copying promotional messages is okay (as long as it gives some explaination of what's on the video, since no one enjoys reading pure marketing crap...) and artists are allowed to add their own video releases there (you, however, don't have to be the artist to make the addition).

However please note that "video releases" means something which was released with some kind of "officiality", something which required more work than just putting a tape at the club where you were mixing last weekend. ;) Some examples of video released on the Internet which seems fine for addition could be that "Guily Party" video made by ColdCut or these videos made by network-error.com.

In short, that new section will be more a database of videos than a list of reviews, although comments can be a perfect way for everyone to give their opinion on videos :) (so don't hesitate to use it!)

Hopefully this will help VJCentral members to take some time to release videos of their work, even if it's only available on the Internet, so that we can inspire each other. In the future we may provide bandwidth for such video releases, there are talks with some members about this but it will take a while so in the meanwhile you can already benefit of having your work linked from a special place in VJCentral.

Eek! I ranted a lot... :o

I just have one question: would it be more clear for you if instead of "Video Releases" this section was called "Music Videos"? Music video seems more intuitive to me but I'm not sure if it could be misunderstood or if it really covers all the types of videos which could be put there?

I think if you call it "Music Videos", that implies that the video has to contain music in order to be listed. Unless it is your intent to restrict the type of material, I would leave the name "Video Releases" as is.

Well I think all of them would be "official" enough to have music or at least some sounds. Videos without sound are pretty rare. As it has been pointed on other threads it's not difficult to find some music to use on a video. My main problem with "music videos" is that it makes me think at once at what's playing on MTV, which is quite different from what would be listed on VJC (I mean it's not going to be a database of Britney Spears music videos) so it would probably confuse people. It's difficult to change the meaning of established words like this...

....

Good news, it seems that my host has decided to increase my bandwidth limit without telling me :) I know that the newest servers had a 400Gb/month but I didn't know they would give that to older members who had signed up for 300gb/month! More bandwidth can only be good for the future of this site.

Hmmm this section is here mostly for inspiration, not sampling, and for videos released by "VJs", but if a movie is visually amazing it's welcome there... My guess is that there will soon be enough videos/DVDs released by VJs to discuss only about this.

Hello Bonjour,
Thanx a lot for your feedback about this new video 'format'...
About naming that, i think

Viewsician Single (VS)
or
Viewsician Clip
or
VJ Single (VJS)
or
VJ Clip

... could be OK. I agree with EXhale about possible confusions with 'MUSIC VIDEO' term.

At this time, we are testing feedback, ... & bandwith needed for this kind of promotional free video Download.
With 'OK MADONNA', 27MB, for 2 days, webserver is burning :-)

NETWORK-ERROR project is based on future CD/DVD/online Distribution of viewsician singles associated with Source materials needed for ReMix: stills, audio loops, video loops, fruitty loops files, .KOS,...

Work in progress, mais il n'y a pas le feu au lac!

Merci ? vous...
