I just had a meeting with a 3 guys who are going to play with their band opening another "mayor" band in a concert.

They guys called me here in Caracas because they knew about my work a year ago and they want to have better visuals than the main band. So we spent the entire evening listening to the songs and thingking about the content and it was so much fun. I am going to do it for free of course because they are kids and I am in my vacation but they had the videos of the other band wich is very popular around here but we can do smething very different and better.

What I realy liked was how exited they were about the ideas and how competetive they are becoming.

I remember the same thing back in 1995 when people was calling me because they wanted to sampler things and use sequencers and midi set ups on stage (I was an electronic musician).

This performance is going to be on the 18 and I have another one on the 24 on which I ma going to DJ a bunch of 80's songs in a big party + I am going to be managing my visuals as well.

But as I see, in the near future the bands that down not have their own visuals are not going to be in the game.

Rei, man, stop the charity work,
you've got enough experience and high profile to ask for a decent fee...
doing things for free is not future friendly for the VJ scene.

this is one major thing VJs need to learn to do:
JUST SAY NO!

anyway, besides that sentence, that's far from fresh,

it's just a gig announcement with the usual bumbledom.

The guys are barely 22, this is not the US where some one at that age can make $1000 a month doing part time jobs. Just imagine going to the smalest town in Africa and start charging there. This presentation is very small, probably 100 or 200 people at the most, something very puntual. My interest is to make people hungry from visuals (the band and the public), I can not charge them even $20 because they do not have and probably they will be paid $60 in total at the most (for the entire band).

The other party is different, is a corporate work and then I can charge. Now, I am not a VJ and I am going to be doing me own visuals, not the entire night and I have to see the numbers there.

In the way I am managing the business side I am working hard to get in to the productions companies in the Miami area and with some mayor rock bands, that is where I get the money but it takes time and with little bands like this I can experiment once in a while and on the practice. It is a way to collaborate with the VJ environment to spread the word here and there.

That is it. But I reallly liked the guys asking for visuals, it is a good sign for the VJs to become an industry itself.
