Does anyone have any info. about Video Techs VEC 2050 mixer?
Particularly whether it is synced?
(I've got the possibility of getting one, but cannot find any info about it except that it was produced between 1990 and 1993.)

Ones just gone up on ebay, with this description:
qoute:
'Simple to use, works with any format - Super VHS, Hi8, VHS, VHSc, 8mm, Beta.
ideal for use when copying from camcorders,
Fades and wipes pictures to black, white or grey, digital selection of 60 different wipe effects, picture processing with split screen comparisons, adjusts picture detail, colour and brightness, 4 channel stereo/mono audio mixer with microphone input for adding music and commentaries '
Doesn't sound like it can mix two inputs unfortunately.

dont buy it, we got one , and we just use it as an audiomixer in the studio,
it only has one channel and aplies a variety of wipes with varying white gray black to that.
the only time weve used it in a show was to vignette
the output with a circular wipe when we had to project on a circular screen
it it can also be useful as a composite/svhs switcher because you can switch beetween the two inputs.
it is rubbish as a video eq as well, the chroma and the brightness controls are ok but the contrast inolves mixing on black and upping the brightness.
the one useful thing about it though is the manual has a fantastic section which gives the pin outs for scart and svhs plugs which we have found way more useful than the unit itself.

I've got one of these mixers!
Most of the confusion with this unit is that it is not a video mixer (although it does mix audio) it's a video processor with a split screen feature for correcting picture quality and fading video when dubbing.
hope that helps.
any questions feel free to contact me @ lurkvideo@live.co.uk
i know i'm 7 years too late lol
