I just came from a Kraftwerk performance and it was nice.

At the end of the show I asked the guy of the video about their software but "they can not say" what they use. It was full resolution and 30 frames per seconds, probably Arkaos or... a DVD set up but probably Arkaos, there was only 2 glitches in the entire show.

Thye had 3 7000 lumens projectors sincronized and place one between the other to create one full screen.

It was very nice concert, the visuals were just perfect and of course music based to the beat, very easy to create (with a budged).

First time I didn't bring my camera and they didn't check anybody at the entrace of the theater! everybody were taking pictures inside but me! I had to get one of the programs at the door to have pics.

I recomend to everybody to see their show, it is a must for a VJ.

"the visuals were just perfect and of course music based to the beat, very easy to create (with a budged)."

yeah sure, who needs creativity, when there's a budget :P

as for the visuals, methinks it's the same with the music of
kraftwerk, once they were ahead of their time. that was twenty years ago.

Why put this in Just Starting? Isn't it sort of a gig report?

I saw them in SoCal for the first time and was also amazed. That was one of the shows that made me want to be a VJ... I could see the dynamic impact of sound and image together

Yes, it's simple by todays standards, but they have stuck to the aesthetic of minimalism
The music of Kraftwerk is the basis of so much of our electronic culture, it's like "reading the classics". (And with current "electro-clash", it's been revived.)

You can find pictures of performances here -

and many places elsewhere on net.

In design school, one of my teachers animated the original video for "music non stop", and similar NY club visuals of the early eighties! (call it "proto-VJ") though I never got to meet them. :not worth

You know... in a way is sad because they were such strange thing for me and now that I saw them is barely a big deal, they are incredible but they are not "the holly Kraftwerk" any more. Stll I like more the way they perform as people.

Yes, is very minimalistic but I think is one of the only shows I have seen with a concept. The other concert I like was Depeche Mode "Devotional Tour" and some concer of Peter Gabriel and of course U2 "Zooropa".

The Kraftwerk show is not hard to do with Arkaos, the hardest part of doing a visual for a band is to make the band to understand what the visuals are about and how you can improve their scene... is specially hard with the manager because they want to keep their money. But competition will lead the way for improvment.
