Yep, very well thought/done general system antics & straight easy GUI design & handling devices, but where I think you?ve totally missed the VJ track in this community was when you said professional but CHEAP solutions to get video splitted to multiple screens!...

Actually I couldn?t find any info about the WMC system price on the site but giving to it a quick guessing I?d say it must be well above the prices of a comparable new Hippotizer or Coolux?s Pandora box or Brash Live or VJLive DVI/DVPs or even a beefy DIY AnalogWay all bells & whistles setup... Hmmmm, perhaps you are after the goal to compete against the overpriced KaosBox III thingy or maybe just trying to cut a slice of the standard higherend league of Catalyst, RADlite, Wholehog et al marketplace, I dunno, but would be nice to know upon how high clouds the WMC is riding its prices.

But all in all a good looking PRO HDTV capable system nevertheless. :yep:

the kaosbox does no multiscreensplitting.

how about writing these dudes a mail for some real figures
instead of taking these "educated guesses"..... ;)

RadioShack has a powered video splitter, one in (comp. stereo sound and s-vid) four out the same, connecting any device to the same signal.

getting the *same* signal on multiple screens is indeed no big deal, but spliting up one signal showing only sections on a videowall on still is....

price depends on the config....output count, vid out signal (rgbhv, vga, dvi, composite, rgb, s-video, etc...), do you need sound (dolby, dts, stereo, or own configs...), matrix switcher in/out count, video playback quality (pal, HD, custom formats, etc...)....you see pointing a price on homepage wouldn't make much seens!

i can tell you what i have payed for the following config:

1x wmc unit:
with 3 outputs (each 800x600, 30fps or one big screen at 2400x600, 30fps) with high quality rgbhv and composite outs (extron).
250GB hdd raid for footage incl. 30GB factory footage on it! 3 stereo audio outs (analog), 1 digital spdif (dolby).
the video sampler option (720x576, composite, s-video, analog sound, high quality converter).
the text modul.
the playlist module.
the vj mixer module (without bpm remote unit).
the dvd module

all controlled by an 17" touchscreen.

i got the 16channel preview module incl. 17" acer tft
i also took the 16/16 matrix switcher module (rgbhv)

everthing cabled with extron cables

ufff....i think thats it! total costs something about 18.000?

compared to others systems with not half of the features wmc offers, thats a very nice price to me, isnt it!?

but dont take me wrong...you can get a much cheaper system if you dont need all the options/modules!

the best would be to ask them for yourself. tell them what you need to do and let them make you an individual offer.

hope this gives an overview

alot of projectors have a video out as well, you could daisy chain them.

I already thought so. I wouldn't try that with just one computer. Multiple labtops will do :yep:

Or just do the same video on all beamers anyway (for just 2 euro!):

yeah sure... who needs expensive video distribution amplifers anyway. i bet if u open them up u'll find an array of composite splitters inside :P

Has anyone figured out how to do this with software (on OS X preferrably). I wouldn't mind using a second machine to do what I want; which is create a 1600x600 single screen (as the output for Modul8) which would be split across 2 800x600 projectors but I really can't afford several grand to do it.

I don't want to mirror the projectors, all I want is one continuous display. Any help would be appreciated...

do what?
Stretching one movie over several beamers. I guess that will look like this:

Yes pretty stuupid :P but anyways.. I think you need several computers for that .

Hahaha, I hope not ;) My composite splitter is doing it's work pretty good though. I don't have THAT much signal loss. :love2:

For OS X, you might want to look into Klangfarben (http://www.sonoluca.com/). It is German quality, so you know it is good.

using multiple computers for this is stuupid here, dude, unless u tell me how to sync them (not just sync starting via midi or else)

btw: of course a movie stretched over three screens has to have a different size output to avoid distortion, go figure...

:D yes it is... but i guess Markus hasn't ported klangfarben to OSX yet, at least not the last time i saw him, and i'm not sure that it's going to happen soon....

I said: I THINK you'll need more computers for that. Of course sync would be difficult! I just hoped someone replyed with a solution for that ;)
