Hmmmm I don't use Resolume much (ain't bought it, ain't planning to till is gets PROPER dual head or gets scanny friendly), I I do know my way around the software resonably well, so I might have a go @ throwing one together next week along with the tut/manual for SVi

Actually it would be nice to do a whole series of beginner tutorials for the popular VJ apps.

Try here on the resolume site...it's the only manual there is.....

@morph

Because I'm not into scannis yet, what do you mean with scanni friendly?

And whats wrong with the dual head mode in Resolume?

Svaen, my idea of a good dual head friendly app is one that will give you a small preview output (and UI) on the primary monitor and a full screen (full speed) output on the second monitor (so you can use it with the composite out on DVD laptops). SIMPLE... is that to much to ask for???? not all this stuffing about having the UI on the second desktop or primary monitors that lag like hell.

Scanny friendly would = 1/4 screen window on the primary monitor that DOESN'T cover any of the UI.

Until then I'll keep using 1/4 scannies, till the dual head ppl catch up.

Well I only knew it because I'm a resolume user to....and I agree on the dual head thingie though.....

I sorted this one out by changing my resolution, undock
the preview monitor and strech it till it fits the zoom area of my
scanny....It doesn't overlap my UI then....

for easy dualhead with Resolume ,use a matrox G450 ,resolume1.1 beta2 ,use dvd max option of the matrox and check dvd max option in Resolume preferences,so it should workwithout any scan convertor
cheers

Um yes THAT works for all the matrox G450 users how many of those cards are in LAPTOPS????? Not many would be my guess.... I just want a SIMPLE fix so it will work with ANY DUALHEAD card so us lappy ppl can use it too.

excuse me for lappy guys !there was a thread about laptops and videocard in Resolume discussion but these solutions were quite expensive ,anyway i don't tink laptop is the best solution for vjing
cheers

Hmmm your entitled to your opinion..... personally I don't think anyself respecting performer needs to be lugging around a stupid big desktop PC.

As for expensive/best solution with a little thought as to 1/4 zooming, previews and full screen out ALL in software it would be EASILY solved but it seems a lot of software developers don't want to think about it cause they just want to do it the way thats easiest for them, rather than looking @ what the users need/want

yep ,well ,i said that laptop was not really the good solution ,that doesn't mean i piss on laptops but if you want a good one ,you need some money ,money that you can spend in a video mixer or effects or video projector .You don't need to have a big desktop to perform as many peoples are doing their own "transportable units " ,anyway i don't wanna do a " polemic" about laptop or desktop; you said something right that software are not very developped for dualhead possibilities so what can we do else than saying it to developpers and wait for the results ?
cheers

resolume is "scanny-friendly" as long as your scan convertor supports 3x zoom and high resolutions (more than 1028x768, although i don't quite remember what i used when i tried this)

and yes the resolume manual is very good, which is why i didn't write a resolume tutorial myself. on the other hand i'm planning to write an article with tips and tricks for resolume, i keep on discovering new uses for this software and i'm sure some stuff would be useful for resolume newbies.

Yeah true X, but 1/4 screen is still far more standard for scannies.

Anyway mving on I still think the best solution is a proper dualhead for laptops, that doesn't involve messing about with change the UI desktop and still gives you a preview window & a full output desktop, I mean it can't be that hard and it would solve ALL the probs, I don't understand why no one has implemented it yet.
