This is a very cool technology, it would mean we could play without having to use cables, imagine that, I dont know a lot about it but I think there is three types.
- IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network
- IEEE 802.15 Wireless Personal Area Network
- IEEE 802.16 Broadband Wireless Access
So in theory, it shood B quite easy 2 set up a wireless netwerk where ever U happen to be playing, of course U need th gear first but I think this could B one new tecnology that we cood Definitely use, theres another thead in here about cables etc, this shood negate those problems cos we wont have cables IF the wireless way is used.
Also, some Cams R using Bluetooth, another (but diff) wireless format, that could be cool for connecting roaming cams to your video mix with no cables, great!
Finally, IF U had ur Wireless netwerk portable & TOTALLY sussed, imagine then using a Pocket PC or Clio/Palm to control ur apps remotely, maybe while walking around, getting diff povs etc
SO, Its a great time 2 B a VJ, 4get Old/New School, how about Future school hehehe
Biggest bonus, No More Wires to tangle, trip over rollup etc etc etc...

as much as I love WANs I can say it's unpredictable .....

reception issues etc

if you have a choice, stick to cat5 I say.

this is from a strictly networking point of view.

in a club environement etc.....hummm I think it'd be ok day in day out but you'd run into occasional problems where you'd have to go back to cat5 for sure.

hope I'm not contradicting myself here :D
