VJCentral Code Updates

OK, I'll start again the update thread since the old one got deleted with the database. I'll list all changes I made to the PHP code of VJCentral on a regular basis. That way everyone will know about the new features and the bug fixes. Feel free to comment on these changes. :) However, if you want to suggest a new feature or report a bug, please start a new thread.

17 april 2002

* fixed the bug when re-uploading an image (reported by many people)
* fixed the chatroom, bad MySQL information (reported by LEVLHED)
* possibility to send a PM from VJC profile
* latest comments bar on main page (requested by MoRpH)
* bug fixed: user name link on main page (latest discussions)
* shorter date on news and comments (2002-04-06 -> 04/06/02)
* sub-categories are now displayed in correct order
* fixed old lists, redirects to the new list page (reported by hamageddon)
* clicked VJC links come on a new blank window
* added weekly chat meeting information on chat bar

* put the news icons submitted by hamageddon (thanks hama!)
* put the menu javascript code on a linked main.js file
* started introducing a new template for the forms here (http://www.vjcentral.com/software/add.php)
* possibility for members to easily add new categories
* using a slightly lighter grey to make it look nicer :)
* removed brackets from unselectionned pages (list.php)
* shortened down the links URL that are too long

OK I forgot to keep this thread up-to-date but here are some of the latest changes:

20 october 2002

Added location to the user info on VJForums posts
Added a new [vjc] vB code for easy VJCentral linking
Added a public tracker with all the VJCentral.com statistics
Finally added metatags on VJCentral and put the title of the page before "VJCentral.com" to increase search rankings
For simplicity's sake, lists can be accessed more easily by typing, for example, vjcentral.com/hardware, which then redirects to vjcentral.com/list/hardware
Added "Internet" as a format for video release and a new "View URL" field. This will help submissions of more underground or smaller video releases. Also improved the help text. More info here (http://www.vjforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=972).
Aggressive "Buy Now" message replaced by "Buy Video", "View Online" added as another viewing option.
Made some improvements and changes to the signup page, remove "Website Name" field, removed mention of becoming an editor since there are enough of them now.
Plus tons of minor changes I didn't bother recording

I changed the login system of VJCentral today so you'll have to sign in again.
