Hi what is the current state of play with the next UK AVIT.

I know there have been a few changing from the change dates from November to members of the team coming and going.

But can we have a update for the masses here about what is happening with AVIT. There has been no update in this forum about what happened in about the date changing, etc.

I am sure many people want to know what is happening (or not happening) with AVIT now.

Hello Everybody

Firstly, we're sorry for not being in touch in recent months. Our postponement and some re-shuffles amongst the AVIT UK organising committee have made communications complicated; we are really really sorry if we haven't been in touch; we can appreciate how frustrating it can be not to hear about proposals.

For the AVIT UK organising committee AVIT is a passion, but also a lot of hard work. All of our members work full time jobs, and have families and friends. None of us have the luxury of working full-time on AVIT, because we're not well enough funded yet. Please be patient with us! Or come and help us out :)

The plans for AVIT UK 2005 are well underway, with modules now scheduled, funding proposals written and almost sent off. Our usual hunts for funding continue, we are in dialogue with some sponsors, hopefully some familiar faces from last year, and perhaps a few new ones.

The quality, diversity, depth and creativity of the proposals made us happy, and we hope they'll make you happy too. AVIT UK 2005 is shaping up to be something really special. Don't worry if you haven't submitted a module to us- there are still plenty of ways to participate. A second round of callouts for performances will be posted here around the beginning of the new year.

Rova's impatience has prompted me to write this reply which isn't a full update- a few things happening behind the scenes have to be 100% confirmed before we can announce them. Here's what you can expect from us in the next few weeks:

* An update confirming the new festival date, new roles created to improve communication, news of resignations and staffing changes, how to contact us with suggestions or thoughts.

* Module proposers if you haven't already been contacted, you will be contacted for further discussion about your module.

* A sneak preview? Although we're approximately 6 months away from the festival we could release some information about why we chose to ask for module submissions, about how this will change and improve the festival, and some details about the activities planned.

AVIT runs on goodwill and the love of VJing in all its many forms. Please come and get involved, enjoy the festival and be proud of what VJs all across the world achieve collectively under the AVIT banner.

Maybe this is just a hunch... but are the women finally taking charge. hehehe

Maybe something will get done then!
HAHA! :P

Leave to the ladies to crach tha whip :whip:

Hope all is well with AVIT UK - and thanks for puttting us on the every-other-year schedule. That will work a lot better... UK one year, NA the next - at least that's my vision. After all we can't be flying all around the world all the time.

yeah after so many years of patriarchy women are used to doing loads of work for no pay (not even a thankyou) - seems they are ideally conditioned for the work of AVIT.
