"Anyone out there got any idea of what sort of setup they got in Pacha (London)?"

I thought this was such a good thread in the newbies section about Cargo. It could be a very useful tool for us to continue them into some kinda database.

I have a gig which involves set up in Pacha and have heard nightmares about throw distances and vibrating scaffs.
Please tell me it's all not true or some tips to get around these problems.

hey, i did one night at pacha about 18 months ago, and it was an absolute nightmare...

not really a club venue built for vjing in mind. things might have changed since, but i had to setup like this. they had a scaffold which the lighting guy had to build each time to get up to the ceiling. we clamped the projector right up there and ran svideo cable to the back balcony - i had to setup just on a table amongst the pretty people scoffing their champagne. managed to hang white draping over the other end of the venue covering the vip area. halfway through the night the people in the vip area complained that the drapes were in their way and they couldn't look out, so it was removed..

i don't think i'd go back there in a hurry. but it would probably work better with some proper screens hung in the middle of the room, so not getting in anyone's way.. or maybe hang the projectors on the side trusses where the lights are (these a really low down) and could fire up onto the white roof) - just an idea might not work at all..

oh yeah and don't tell them it was me.. i had to move a table , which was really heavy so i dragged it quite far across the balcony. only noticing when i finished that i had left a deep groove in the lovely pacha varnished wood floor that ended right in the new position of the table. (kinda spelled me out as the culprit) i was a bit nervous for half an hour as it was really obvious, then luckily the lights dimmed and i was saved...

Are these the trusses that appear quite sturdy and then when the club fills up they make you worried about the projector as it dances in motion with the crowd?

can't answer that i'm afraid , as i never tried to do it this way and can't remember if the lights attached were shaking..
