Hello VJs,
yesterday I saw announced in a german tv program: "VJ Award 2004"
I whatched it and it was about the new job of VideoJournalist in Germany.
All the big tv stations what to save money. They now send only the "VJ" to make smaller reports. Before there was a team of Cameraman, assistent and journalist, now it's in one hand.
Is this the same in other countries?
Do we really need a new name now for us?

Here in Canada we've been calling the young hosts on MuchMusic (canadian mtv) VJs since before I can remember. Same with mtv as far as I know.
Don't think it really matters though, as long as when you meet someone you take a couple seconds to explain what a VJ is, at least in the context of your art/careeer.
Remember, "A rose by any other name...."
I don't think its that important, I think a lot of people wast way too much time trying to define what they are rather than just being.

i still get a kick out of people saying "oh! on Much??" (if u met me u know i am not exactly the much style or age demogr) no doent matter at all. really. theres lots of acronyms that are similar, and like no one watching you do your thing will ever ask if youre a video hosetess, nor a video journalist
besides, thats nothing compared tothe problem AV artists are going to face when touring Japan

..speaking of VeeJay didn't the beatles release a lot of early 45's on that label?
