Early this year there was an urgent call from dfuse (London) for submissions for a VJ book. Some people including me sent their stuff - descriptions of work and person, photos and clips for the DVD which was meant to be included in the book.

All i ever heard from dfuse was a mail which said my submission was recieved. Since then, not a single mail regarding the status of the project (yes, i mailed and asked).

Has anyone hard facts about the project? Cancelled? Will be published? Hot air??

There has been a related discussion in these threads: avience (http://www.vjforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=6698&highlight=dfuse) and vj book (http://www.vjforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=6792&highlight=dfuse)

I am quite disappointed with a company policy that asks a lot within short deadlines, uses unusual copyright regulations (dfuse has full publication and reseller rights on the submissions!) and never delivers or even gives an update.

Good Question,
Firstly, this isn't a D-Fuse book, but a Lumens/D-Fuse book

Things got slightly delayed for many reasons
- Firstly the US side [Lumens/D7] put stuff on hold due due to AVIT, etc.
- Secondly, the first deadline imposed by the publisher was simply too fast, it would have been impossible to complete on time.
they needed to ready for Frankfurt book fair.
- Now we [D-Fuse] are too busy, to start the book until September/Oct

The budget is extremely low, so this has to fit in gaps between other projects.
We don't have the finance to do this unless we can do this fast and efficiently.
Books do not make money.

btw. I have urgently submitted work for books and still waiting 2 years later for them to be published.
Publishers don't update people regularly, there simply is no budget or time to do this.
Sorry, about this for our side I do feel immense responsibility, but we are willing and keen

We have been working for along time on this book and much of the work has been done.
So please be patient, we are equally keen to see this book on the shelfs

Thanks
Mike

PS what happened to the VJ magazine?

dear mike,

thanks for the info. i clearly understand this is not a profitable project. but please consider to establish a newsletter for the contributors - the content of your post would have been sufficient and of interest to all of those who did not read the thread.

there should be a list of the submissors e-mail adresses, so why not use them to shoot out a mail every month or two...

regards,
