hi all,
for a theater-production we are looking for a video-mixer that needs to be able to mix 3 sources to 2 independent outputs.
It needs to be able to put any input to any output and also be able to crossfade between any source on the 2 outputs.
Is there a way of doing this without 2 videomixers or a computer?
Or is there a matrix system that can crossfade between the sources?
thanx 4 any help.

i guess there is no mixer that can do 2 independent mixes in one unit.
a panasonic mx-50 has 4 inputs, you can display any of these or mix between two inputs and you have two output connectors (but the two outputs show the same mix). similar on a edirol V4, but the panasonic is s-video and BNC all the way.
there are studio mixer units that can mix three layers with two t-bars (mix channel A+B, then mix the result with channel C). quite expensive and heavy, and you still have one mix on the output.
good luck!

I think you'll need 6 video mixers to do this the way you want. I know of no video mixer that can mix three sources fully (theres the downstream keying bit, but not what you need I'm sure).
for your two seperate outs you need two vid mixers, one for each feed. then to mix threee sources you'd need two additional mixers to go into the feed-mixers..
gets complex fast, but it would be fun, no?

thanx for ur reply...
levlhead:
we mean mixing 2 of the 3 souces at once, not all 3 at once. the complication is the 2 outputs, as we dont want to use 2 seperate mixers, if we can avoid it....
just for the record:
with the mx50 u can make 2 diff outputs if you use the preview output...
..but that still doenst solve our problem with the crossfades...

Hiya,
stop guys, what he needs is a seamless switch like the folsom, here you can manage at least 6 inputs to 3 different screens. but rent them with a operator, its too much costs for a unit and an practice unit....
with greetz from sunny europe,
mix://TV
(cheaper one: 2 vision-mixer incl. operator (one for each screen) and an intercom-system, same practice and ...luck!!)

1 . with an mx 50 you have the 2 blue buttons at the top right than can select the output a or b on your preview out so you use the preview out as output numer one. you can press blue top right button a than put the tbar also to a ans pres on the a bus input 1/2/3 so you can output each sorce.
now for the mixing you have to do not with the t bar but with the little fader right to the tbar put the buttons next to it on something like > video and source orso, im doing from memory
then you have over one of the 2 normal outputs a mix between what you want.
good luck
