I used one a couple of weeks back, the output was good quality. Only used the luma key though, so I didn't see any of its FX. It is lacking knobs and such which makes it a pain to control live. It also isn't inuitive like most Panasonics or Videonics. A review is posted here:

Yeah I wrote the review and even though I don't own a V-5 I have used one quite a bit and was fairly unimpressed..... the review says it all, if you have any questions not addressed in teh review feel free to ask in the commments on the review :)

so "Edirol V-5" is an alias for the roland mixer?

this should be added on the review

Nah Edirol are just a distributor, even when you buy it through them it's still labelled a ROLAND V-5..... so no its not an alias like the german panasonics/videonics stuff.

think i was looking to hard to find Edirol in the reviews and overlooked Roland, all the advertising in UK all Edirol based no mention of Roland. As you know i am new to the technology, I was attracted by the VGA input , now i know what i am really after is scan converters and better than 640-480 as well, off to learn about SC's thanx again

The scanny built into the unit is ABSOLUTELY USELESS for anything other that titling..... Its crap rez, no zoom, and most importantly UNDERSCANNED and not EVEN CENTRED

you can get a videonics mxpro for about the same price or a second hand pannasonic for much less - don't buy a roland they suck
