R3 is certainly a big jump in terms of power - the interactive variables make a huge difference.

As for whether it is worth it for you to buy the advanced package and others like Booster-1, well Id try out the demos if I were you and decide for yourself, not everybody needs those extras but personally I wouldnt do without them.

I ended getting all of the extras for R3. The advanced package might be unnecessary, the only effect I use from that is the volume ray. There are so many effects that I have not worked with, mainly because of time constraints. Definitely utilize the pdoom 3DSLoader, it really expands the possibilities, especially if you don't mind working with 3DS Max

The Jump to R3 should keep you busy for awhile. There are the free add-ons floating around, so you'll automatically jump up an entire set of things to fool with. Then, you can move on to the advanced set if you like. There are some nice things in there.

I'd say "BUY BOTH!" but I understand that buying all the various sets would add up to a good chunk of money.

Nope, that are all free extensions at the monent. But take a look at new Nash Package 3.30 (unofficial release - released yesterday :yep: )

It includes now a fast and easy Chroma keying (runs together with video-in and petes deinterlacer at 640*480 25 fps at my PC)
You can click directly on the color you want to key.

Also basic Image Recognicion was added (Image Explorer)

Visit Pete Wardens Home (http://www.petewarden.com) to check out the newest version of his package.
Some new effects like Meta Image do really rock like hell!!

the advanced package is designed for the need of professionals. you will find advanced versions od the base-plugins (multilayer, avi-loader) and some fancy plugin-ideas, requested by the users. new in there are also navigation-plugins, letting you to make somethin like a "skin" for your show so that you can place buttons with defined actions (jump to other fxcs), nice if you want to define your own GUI. but it is definately thought for professional users. first i recommend to explore all the standard plugins.
