It will depend on many factors the size of the band/company/tour to usage of the clips.
How big (wealth) is the band? Are they serious about visuals? I imagine if *shrug* Madonna or someone wanted visuals for a tour then the 'going rate' would be high I would be looking animation house figures per clip and these charge by the second so 50% of that and you are doing very well for a *large* act.
Is it a worldwide tour as well could be a factor?
Have you got to include sponsers stuff in there?
But then again the massive animation houses (Pixar) can charge the roof and prohibitively expensive for even for the biggest act.
But when making clips this way you are likely to give them full access rights for distribution, TV advert and normally you would incorporate future music videos production into them. That is what playing with the big boys will do.
With smaller acts like DJ Shadow and Plaid I imagine for full licensed clips so they can do with as they please live (and that can (and maybe will) include not employing you to play the visuals) then what *shrug* ?2,000 a minute would seem reasonable maybe even too cheap. That would be for decent material mind you no shit and all original/cleared footage.
I would get a contract for more expensive amount (or even stopping them completely and have them talk to you) if they use them in Music Videos, TV adverts, etc. Triple (maybe more) the figures if they use them in any none club environment like TV/Films, Music Videos. That will be a cheap music video for the next video for them, etc.
Just tour visuals that you still *own* the figure will be less. Give yourself an hourly rate that is reasonable say ?50 an hour and work out before hand how long it will take you to do the stuff. Sorry how long it will take a professional graphics company to do the stuff ? this may be quicker than yourself if you have to learn new skills/ plugins/ programs/ techniques, etc.
To be honest the way you worded the question sounds a little na?ve and that you have blagged it. You should have covered some of the basics in your initial post.

?2,000 a minute ????
are ya crazy???
so for say an hour performance by dj shadow would be ?120,000 or ~ $240,000.
Maybe I am misinterpreting but you can book a live PA with like Crystal Method and the Chemical Brothers together and have $ left over.

He is not crazy at all. This is standard rate for professional and exclusive content.
Here in quebec we have a very creative scene producing videoclips for local artists. These clips are almost only shown on Musique Plus, which is our local french-speaking MTV. This is not a big market at all. There is some kind of government funding for producing those clips, and the funding ceiling per clip is 20 000$CAN. If you split that among the 5 minutes duration of a standard videoclip, it makes around 4000$ per minute, which is close to 2000 pounds a minute. This is the bare minimum you need to produce an acceptable clip here - most videoclips shot in the USA cost at least 10 times as much.

you gave the impression initially that you were doing a short music video type sync...i would say that if it is more a series of patches for a live set, that would be slightly less work intensive, as the need for recurring footage building up a theme would be greater.
i think if we had a better idea of the breif we could be more help.
