I was just in a local pub drinking some guinnes with a friend and after the usual audio/visual banter , the world topics came in the conversation. we are talking about how to increase aid (either by people or financial) to help-organizations in the world when

(and this is not a joke) 50 cents "p.i.m.p" played in the bar. I don't know what happend next but before I knew it this big light bulb went on in my head , removing the alchohol inside!!

ok bear with me , because the idea is soooo simple it might hurt.

Every week parties in all the major cities happen , and every where people have a good time, have a drink have a dance etc etc.


what if the party organizer or even better the venue where it happens added 50 (euro) cent to its admission fee and hands its over to a help-organization!!!!
every week they could change which organization they would sponsor or even better sponsor a organization for a year , then moving to the next one.


now check this: in amsterdam you take.... the ""melkweg" admission x 3000 = 1500 euro add the chemistry night in the escape admission x..1500 = 750 euro (numbers can be wrong but just to illustrate the idea!! ) and so on and so on , every pary night.....every week.


that's just one city.

we are the richest people in the world , the hell cares about that 50cents anyway, but the immense changes you can give to other people could be huge . it's easy, there are now extra costs and it doesn't hurt: simply because the partying people will works as a colony!!

I'm gonna send this idea to any party crew I know. yes its idealistic , yes it's almost a stupid idea , but its one that just might do it.

I want anybody that's feeling this idea to pass it along to people you know , or with your own crew. mail people in your country about this concept , and add more cities to it!! imagine: 10 large cities with 10/20 big parties each adding there 50cent!!!!!

i think one should make it's one decsision to support help-organisations. money is just money, they need yuor money + some kind of compassion. sorry, i think i cannot make myself very clear in english.

what i mean is that 'it' works better if you support help-organisations because you want it yourself and you think it's important. that way you give them some more than money; love and compassion. which is one level higher and much more important, it will add some karma and metta to your support. i think the world needs love, instead of 'just' money. make people with money aware of that!

maybe you could put something like that in your plan? :) it's a good idea to think about ways to help the poor.

There is an action running now called Dance for Life. This organisation in The Netherlands (http://www.dance4life.nl) and Afrika (http://www.dance4life.com) try to collect money for the aids problem. They collect money by adding 50 Euro cent to the admission of a party. There are a few party's connect to this organisation but i hope this wil grow bigger.

cool I didn't know about Dance4life!! dope that other people are working with that as well. But I was thinking of a bigger and more structural change in the way people go out and have a good time , like erikm said "to make people with money aware of "it"

That they have a luxury position in the world ,and with a minor effort everytime you go out to a club you can change things enormously for people who can't.

I do disagree with erik about the "love+compassion factor" though, some countries just miss (Financial +and after that people)funds to build. the biggest compassionate thing you could do is add , your 50cent that you would have spent on a beer or whatever anyway! you choose to go to a "50cent" bar or club so therefore you choose to help and have a good time at the same time. it's perfect. (well the 1 euro thing sounds good though!! :))

I am glad to see that there are people that are feeling the idea and to hear that it already exists in some form!! Kunstbende(nl) wants to help already If I can get it of the ground. please send more comments and additions towards the plan and even better: how visuals can help?

Back at home around the holidays we would run can food drives. Bring a can food item and get a discount on admission. The proceeds were given to soup kitchens and shelters. It worked for the most part.

ah, i did not understand you had a real bar in mind, i thought it was the idea of 'just' increasing the entrance-fee with 50 cents. in case of a special bar or night it would add extra love-value. ie: getting drunk to build a school in a third world place, lot's of people will like the idea. :nod: if you could find some government (nah, guess they won;t let you drink for money :D) support or brandsupport to double the income.. that would be great. good luck!
