i had a two recent interviews in magazines in which i bigged up arkaos vj as one of the main pieces of software i use over at stealth, do you think i can pump them for some free software ? :) they where major mags and one was a industry trade mag how would one go about such a thing anyway? or do you just have to shamlessly blag things in this game?

I'm not sure but I think you should have talked with Arkaos before saying anything at the mag, if you were expecting something in return for the free publicity. As it is I guess you'll end up empty-handed. I mean they have no obligation, you already said it, they win and you can "lose".

I also know a lot of musicians who get free instruments, everything from guitars to cymbols, they just have to have there photo taken for a cheesy add sometime in the future when they've got more pulling power. So how about it Arkaos, Press inch to software? You cant buy good publicity like recomendations, it cuts out the bull.

I don't know how much money, etc the VJ software dev have to sponser anything. Most (if not all) make no meaningful money out of it.
You have to ask what do you give back? How big a name are you and who will but y the s/w on your recommendation.
I doubt Arkoas sells more that a hundred or two a year.
And then you wil have to cope with the stigma of being a
'sponsered' VJ and possibily have you opinions about software/VJ'ing diluted as are always seen being associated/promoting that product and cannot give unbiased advice.

Good points, though i don't think aligning youself with a piece of software stigmaties you, if you happen to use a piece of software and think its a great bit of kit you do big it it up, anyway i'm not so arsed about getting free software because my employers pay for it? (but thats another thread) Arkaos is a good bit of software never have any probs with it always have it stacked with effects and run to video sources into it at the same time its fuckin safe:yep:

ps can someone move this thread to the buisness section please:)

I see 'aligning' and 'sponsered' as seperate things. Sponsership implies some affinity toward the product, the better it does the better you will do. So some might think your opinion on say what is teh best software is objective. I know I do freom some developers, etc of VJ's software here when they recommend ther software at times when it is not the best tool for the job.

So perhaps its good for software makers to have someone that has no knowledge of software production ect.... to big up there software, i know when some of you guys talk about software on here its a little bit to technical for me, i suppose i judge a piece of software quite simply, in the fact i hammer it to death and if it survives all i can give it and do it well, its alright in my book

uhm... if they sell 100 units, that's like $35,000 USD.... nothing to sneeze at... not much to run a company on, but I think we all know how vj software companies are run....
shoestrings, hope & dedication.
so lets just guess there are 3 ppl "employed" at Arkaos, that's $10k+ apiece for roughly, what? an upgrade per year or so... it's no wonder why I use free software! :)
