I'm a resident VJ at this club going insane it is a converted cinema and arwsome venue but the pressures of vjing, controlling lighting a lazers is really getting to me i can sometimes create some pure beuty of mood to some songs then there are times I am so boged down by just keeping it all running I just don't feel like I'm doing anything and should just be out working for a bank as tech support, it's like I have tried so hard and worked my ass off for so long to say something and express something artisticly and I have gotten nothing to say I have the res dj and marketing manager breathing down my neck wanting ads on the screen I have achived some really good things but i am in Canberra in Australia and I'm really alone here with only a few people open-minded people and I'm starting to get media in all local papers and street press but I am doing sweet FA really at melting point

bud keep at it.

We all feel like this sometimes, even with experience (though it diminishes)

Practice, practice, practice, plan, organize, practice.

Stick at it, and hopefully you'll get a break... ;)

Hey Jim,

Keep up the good work, I herd the 3D night went really well. If your getting snowed under doing visuals I'm happy to lend a hand. I'm in Canberra...

Controling the laser and lighting as well as VJ'ing is obviosuly unfair.

This is another sepearate role if they want you to do this and the VJ'ing with the ads try explaining it is too much. It all depends what you role is there it sounds like you are the guy that does everything. It don't know for example if you have time (paid for) to design your ads etc then they become another clip.

Maybe also take a break for a week or two. Even VJ's are allowed holidays you know. Recharge you batteries and hopefully then you will have a new wave of creativity. From the sounds of it you are actually in a good postion as they really seem to want you to do visuals there.

hehe you use less full stops in you posts then me. :)

Holy shit! I have trouble just vjing all night. A few premixed dvds might come in handy?

WORK TO LIVE - NOT LIVE TO WORK (thats my motto). If you aren't getting anything out of it then drop it NOW!

How long have you been doing this?

BTW I hope your charging extra for the newspaper advertising. They can probably get them done free at the newspaper which will look absolutely shit. Statistically in Australia, only 5% of newspaper adverts actualy get noticed - and only 13% of people who see them will actually act because of them.

You shouldn't be doing all 3 jobs at the same time, it could be stressing enough to do only one at certain venues (I know I have a couple of venues that are extremely stressing)
