This event is gonna be pretty busy and we want to try and get as much of it on tape as we can. If we can get a whole team of us out on the floor gathering footage we'll have a pretty complete record of what promises to be an entertaining day. So if you're bringing a DV camera and fancy contributing to the promotion of us and our future events then let me know.

after doing an edit of the vjs.net gig i can say that it is absolutly essental for people who are filming interviews or discussions to use an external mic - held close to there subjects mouth - using cameras mic when recording in a noisy environment is a total waste of time...
If your going to record a discussion that is taking place by the use of a PA please try and take the sound out of the desk (prehaps we should minidisk all the discussions / demos out of the desk so there is a master copy of all the sound)
if this is not done there will be no decent sound for any kind of edit to be made from!!!

yes there will be a vocal pa so i see no problem there for the recording of the discusions
so we need to get some more mikes any ideas or are we going to need to hire them

the conference sessions need to be recorded properly so that we can use them as content for vjcentral, so we're on the case with that... sound is the most critical thing when filming, and the bit thats hardest to check. my filming case includes stereo gun mic with camera shoe, mono tieclip mic, and headphones.

*a* camera mr b? last time i went to an apt gig, i thought i was in a camcorder showroom! bloody palmcorders everywhere! on super crazy mounting arms! not to mention the one attached to a wireless tx and you were chucking in the air... (er, i shouldn't have said that... he is very trustworthy and a trained gaffer... and only throws cameras around when he gets *very* excited)

no he's a grip, very different things ( i think a gaffer is an assistant gandalf or something)
those "crazy mounting arms " are called Magic arms, and are standard equipment in the film industry, comes of having a proper trained grip in your crew, come to think of it i guess that is something not normal 4 vj's, maybe i should get B to write a vjc article on cameramounts etc.
oh and he's trained in throwing cameras around too
