In your head...

there is plenty of footage out there to find,
there are plenty of software to generate images,
and its REALLY easy to get lost in all that
if you dont make up your mind first,
as of what exactly you are looking for...

some thing i have done once and would like to do again is check out the venue first , take some photos , and then model the place up in max .
then put in cool crazy lighting , particle effects , fog and ....... what ever , and animate the camera around the place .
then show this at the same venue , ,,,, there by creating a party inside a party , sort of ....

...now project this with through a projector with a moving mirror fitting from a light, and make the images crawl off the screen and move around the room!

I'd love to do this at the St James in Auckland - it's a grand old theatre with beautiful detailing in the walls and ceiling.

There's a crowd in Sydney doing projection onto buildings like that (tho with multiple, big fixed projectors). They turned a building with pillars into an ancient Greek ruin! :)

Cheers!

and then model the place up in max .

I tried this with a club called Fabric. I had been involved in its conception and had built a 3D max model to aid in its the design. This was an immense area of catacombs which was a disused cattle market (sic)
Whilst VJing there I mixed in flying camera shots with the crowd to get that rush!
I really wanted to place live cameras and mix to them when the virtual cam was in position, freaky.
Alas I never got the chance but a wise man pointed out to me that it was easier to fly live mini cams around on lines.

At the club I used to work in I did a video which started about 4 miles down the road. We drove in the car right up to the front door, ran up the stairs into the club, thru to backstage, ran around backstage for a while and then up into the DJ box and then filmed the empty dancefloor.

I used it whenever a big name DJ was coming on. When the clip got to the empty dancefloor part, I cut it to a mix of the DJ and the crowd from the same angle.

Looked quite good.
